A pure black screen reveals stuck pixels and hot pixels — bright colored dots that are invisible on white. Dead pixels are always black and cannot be seen on a black background.

What to look for on a black screen
Red, green, or blue dot
One or two sub-pixels stuck in the on state — this is a stuck pixel. Try the fix tool: stuck pixels sometimes respond to rapid color cycling.
Bright white dot
All three sub-pixels (R, G, B) stuck fully on — this is a hot pixel. Visible as a white pinpoint on black. Also sometimes fixable with cycling.
Nothing visible
Dead pixels are always black — invisible on a black screen. If you suspect a defect, switch to the white test to find dead (dark) pixels.

What does a black screen dead pixel test show?+
A black screen reveals stuck pixels and hot pixels — pixels that emit light against the dark background. Dead pixels (always black) are invisible on a black screen. Use the white test to find dead pixels.
Why is black screen testing important for OLED?+
OLED produces true black by turning pixels completely off. A stuck pixel appears as a bright pinpoint against a perfectly dark background — far more obvious than on a backlit LCD. Black is the most revealing single test for OLED and AMOLED.
What is a hot pixel?+
A hot pixel has all three sub-pixels (R, G, B) stuck fully on — it appears as a bright white dot. A stuck pixel has one or two sub-pixels on, showing as red, green, blue, or a mix. Both appear on a black background.
Can I fix a stuck pixel found on the black screen test?+
Sometimes. Run the fix tool for 10–20 minutes — rapid color cycling can stimulate stuck sub-pixel transistors back into operation. Dead pixels (always black, never visible on black) cannot be fixed with software.
